Student-Faculty Research Scholarships
The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi

The College of New Jersey's chapter of the national scholastic honorary society, Phi Kappa Phi, is seeking applicants for the Phi Kappa Phi Student-Faculty Research Scholarships.  Each semester the chapter offers students from all disciplines scholarships of $400.  Their purpose is to support and encourage student involvement in serious academic research.

These scholarships will oblige student recipients to commit at least five hours per week for a semester, assisting a faculty member with academic research.  The work performed by student recipients may also result in academic credit, but the awards will be determined without reference to whether or not a project is designed to achieve academic credit.

Applications must include:

1.  A letter from the sponsoring faculty member which describes the goals of the
     research project and the qualifications of the student.  The letter should
     include:

• The merits of the project
• The methodology
• The expected significance of value of the results of the project
• Qualifications of the student for working on the project and the student's role in the project
• A copy of the one page summary of courses completed and grades achieved by the student, with courses highlighted that are pertinent to the research project (all departments have received these one page summations of student records)

• The student's interests and background
• The impact that the project will have on his/her education and/or career plans
• Qualifications of the student for working on the project and the student's role in the project

A final report, in the form of a letter signed by both the faculty member and the student, should be submitted at the completion of the semester to the Chapter Secretary, Annemarie Mills, Green 207.
