Rotary Ambassadorial Scholarships
Rotary Ambassadorial Scholarships provide up to $23,000 for the cost of study abroad in countries where there are Rotary Clubs. Recipients must have completed two years of college and may pursue almost any field of study. They must, however, enroll directly in a foreign university as a full-time student--not in a study abroad program from an American Institution.
Since the primary purpose of the scholarships is to further international understanding, recipients generally are not assigned to a country where they lived or studied before. Because the program strives for a wide geographic distribution, only a small percentage of Rotary Scholars are assigned to frequently requested destinations such as Paris or London. Candidates seeking to study in developing countries or less traditional study destinations are more likely to be assigned to their first choice. Therefore, applicants must be flexible in their study destinations. The application asks each candidate to list five study-institution preferences in at least three different countries.
