The Minority Academic Career Program - Undergraduate Research Fellowships (MAC-UG) Program is a statewide initiative to encourage talented minority students to consider college teaching as a profession, and to increase the number of minority faculty members on New Jersey college and university faculties.  MAC-UG fellows receive a $2,000 stipend during their senior year and up to $500 in reimbursed travel expenses to attend professional conferences.  They work with a faculty mentor who receives a $1000 stipend.

To be eligible, students must be members of a minority group as designated by the United States Department of Education, Office of Civil Rights.  This includes individuals who are African-American, Latin/Hispanic, Native American, Alaska American, Alaska Natives, Asians and Pacific Islanders.  They must be United States citizens or permanent residents, be juniors in college, and enrolled full time in a college or university in New Jersey.  They must have a 3.0 (B) or better grade point average, and be interested in a college teaching career.

If you are interested or you have any further questions, please contact Valerie D. Scott at (973) 761-9764.  Applications are available in the Sociology/Anthropology Department, Social Sciences 317.
