The Philadelphia Zoo has an exciting and unique opportunity for undergraduate students interested in measuring the education and entertainment value of Zoo exhibits and educational programs.  Our Visitor Studies Internship offers students the opportunity to play a prominent role in all aspects of several ambitious research projects.  Under the supervision of the Evaluation/Research Specialist, interns will develop data collection instruments, collect and enter data, and assist with data analysis and report writing.  The information gained from these studies will influence future exhibits and educational programs, and assist the Zoo in developing metrics to gauge exhibit and program effectiveness.

Requirements: Majoring in Psychology, Sociology, Communications, Education or related fields. Undergraduate juniors and seniors are encouraged to apply.  Applicants must be able to spend extended periods of time outdoors.  Microsoft Excel experience preferred.  These unpaid summer internships will begin the Tuesday after Memorial Day and continue through Labor Day.  Summer internships require a flexible schedule, a commitment of three 8-hour days per week for 12 weeks (or a total of 36 days throughout the summer), and some weekend availability.

Application deadline: May 1st, however, since interviews are conducted on a rolling basis, it's best to apply early.  (If you miss the deadline, please don't hesitate to send an email to see if any spots are still available.)

Spring and Fall internships have more flexible application deadlines and require 8 hours per week.

To apply, send your resume and a statement of interest/cover letter to chessler.melissa@phillyzoo.org or
