Family Transition Support Services (FTSS) is a social service organization that provides a variety of services to at-risk youth and their families.  Services provided include: Transitional Mentoring, Advocacy, Educational Support, Individual/Family Counseling, Group Counseling, Drug/Alcohol evaluation and counseling, Child/Family Team Facilitation, and summer camp. 

MISSION: To equip youth and families with skills necessary to lead balanced lives as defined by their families to make constructive decisions for themselves in the familiar surroundings of their homes and communities

FTSS has the following internship opportunities available:

Note: All FTSS employees will undergo state and federal background checks.  All FTSS employees are required to submit copies of current driver's license, auto registration and auto insurance.

Traditional Mentor: Mentor will meet with youth approximately 5-10 hours weekly.  Mentor will plan and engage in age-appropriate activities with youth according to goals set forth by agency and family.  Mentor will maintain detailed field notes and other state/county/agency documentation.  Mentor will be responsible for transporting youth to and from activities.  This internship is appropriate for students interested in Social Work, Education or Psychology, is available on semesterly or year-round basis, and is unpaid.  Intern may be offered the opportunity to continue with FTSS as a paid employee at the completion of their internship.

Flexible Advocate: Flexible Advocates will fulfill the duties of a Traditional Mentor in addition to the following: Advocates may accompany youth and families to court for support, may transport youth to school, may accompany youth to class and remain for the duration of class period (in case where agency or behavioral issues place youth at risk of failure), may be assigned to parent or siblings for support, may transport or accompany youth or family to various self-help meetings or act as a liaison between various agencies with by telephone or by attendance at youth correction meetings.  Advocates will write regular progress reports on the progress of youth/family.  Advocate hours are between 5-2- hours weekly per youth.  This internship is appropriate for students interested in Social Work, Education or Psychology, is available on semesterly or year-round basis, and is unpaid.  Intern may be offered the opportunity to continue with FTSS as a paid employee at the completion of their internship.

Tutor/Education Support: Tutoring youth ages 8-18 in English, Math, Sciences, and Reading.  Education support including assisting youth in college/tech school application, admission, and financial aid.  Up to 15 hours per week.  This internship is appropriate for students interested in Social Work, Education or Psychology, is available on semesterly or year-round basis, and is unpaid.  Intern may be offered the opportunity to continue with FTSS as a paid employee at the completion of their internship.
