The International Partnership for Service-Learning and Leadership, founded in 1982, is an incorporated not-for-profit educational organization of colleges, universities, service agencies and related organizations united to foster and develop programs linking volunteer service and academic study for credit. The International Partnership administers 16 undergraduate programs in 14 nations, and offers an M.A. Degree program in International Service.  Program locations include the Czech Republic, Ecuador (Guayaquil, Quito, and the Galapagos), England, France, India, Israel, Italy, Jamaica, Mexico, the Philippines, Russia, Scotland, Thailand, and South Dakota (with Native Americans).  Students earn 12-18 college credits per semester and serve up to 15-20 hours per week.  The programs are based at accredited universities and all aspects of the programs are conducted by in-country professionals.  More than 4,000 students from 400 colleges and universities in U.S. and 25 other nations have participated in IPSL programs.

IPSL welcomes applicants from all nations and backgrounds.  Language requirements exist for selected programs.  The minimum age for participants is 18 years old, and college and graduate students are encouraged to apply.  Programs are offered on a semester, year, summer and 3-week session (only in India).  The application deadline is 2 months prior to the start of the program.

Tuition for 2005-2006 ranges from $4,000-$12,500 depending on location chosen and duration.  Most program fees include tuition, housing, most meals, administrative fees, on-site orientation, service placement and field trips.  A $250 deposit is required at the time of application, and is applied to the program fees.  US Federal Financial Aid and many other scholarships can be applied to programs.

Housing is arranged by the program.  Students live and take meals with host families, or in host institution campus housing, depending upon the program.
